August is National Immunization Awareness Month

The CDC recently updated their website with new language regarding the correlation between routine vaccinations and autism spectrum disorder. Their updates include the statement: “The claim ‘vaccines do not cause autism’ is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism.” The page also claims that studies supporting a link between autism and vaccinations have been ignored by health authorities.

With more misinformation spreading about vaccinations, we’re glad to that New Mexico continues to maintain its full childhood vaccination recommendations in the wake of President Trump’s executive order.

Use these resources to learn how you can stay on top of immunization recommendations:

And mark your calendars for the first School Health ECHO session on September 8th from 12pm-1pm. This session will cover vaccine hesitancy and effective vaccine communication. Register for ECHO sessions here.
