The UCSF Bixby Center’s Beyond the Pill team and the University of New Mexico LARC Mentoring Program are pleased to bring you this interactive virtual training. The training is certified for up to 5.0 CME/CE credit hours at no cost and open to all clinic staff.
The training is designed for health educators, counselors, clinicians, social workers and administrative staff, and we will cover topics relevant to all roles, including counseling, billing and reimbursement, as well as clinical information and patient eligibility.
Event Schedule:
10 AM – 12 PM (MDT) – Update on IUDs & Implants – 2 CME/CE credits
Designed for all staff and clinicians, with emphasis on evidence-based guidelines and case-based learning. We will discuss IUDs and Implants as part of the contraceptive method mix, maintaining access during COVID-19, and address clinical questions related to contraceptive method selection, relative hormone concentrations, and bleeding effects.
12 PM – 1 PM Break for Lunch
1 PM- 3 PM – Contraceptive Counseling Fundamentals – 2 CME/CE credits
Designed for all staff who provide contraceptive counseling, this session focuses on incorporating patient-centered contraceptive counseling techniques into telehealth visits. Through interactive case studies, participants will become more comfortable responding to common patient concerns around IUDs and Implants and counseling on side effects.
3 PM – 3:30 PM Afternoon Break
3:30 – 4:30 PM – LARC Reimbursement Strategies – 1 CME/CE credit
An interactive presentation to troubleshoot your LARC billing and coding issues. We will review options for ordering, stocking, and the process of billing for IUDS and implants in NM; additionally, policies, codes, and ways to improve clinical documentation to support LARC.
