In New Mexico, school-based health centers that would like to bill Medicaid need to go through a credentialing and contracting process, which is overseen by the Human Services Department, Medical Assistance Division, School Health Office. The full process SBHCs must go through to be approved to bill Medicaid is outlined in the School-Based Health Center (SBHC) Process for Becoming a Credentialed Medicaid Provider 12-10 (PDF)
School-based Health Centers must also contract with each of the state Managed Care Organizations and the statewide entity for behavioral health. The credentialing and contracting processes for these organizations can be found below:
If you have further questions about the credentialing or contracting processes contact the School Health Office at 505-476-7123
